Warm weather often arrives without warning and disappears just as fast, and when it does hit, it can have a real impact on how your products perform (and how your day on site goes).

Understanding the Impact Heat Has on Your Materials
Did you know that high temperatures can impact how your products perform on site?
Some DPMS and adhesives can become chemically sensitive in the heat, while primers may become more viscous, ultimately altering the performance capability, the flow characteristics and coverage rate. That’s why we always recommend placing your products out of the heat and into a shaded area, allowing them to cool and preventing them from getting too hot before getting started.
Don’t forget to give the products a thorough mix, shake, or stir before application to ensure optimal performance. Keep in mind that higher temperatures or high humidity can significantly reduce working time, so plan accordingly.

Warmer Weather Storage Top Tips
Wherever possible, we recommend storing your flooring products in a temperature-controlled environment, ideally between 15°C and 25°C. This helps maintain the integrity and performance of products such as primers, adhesives, and DPMS, which can all be affected by excessive heat.
It’s also important to keep them out of direct sunlight and avoid storing them in vans or vehicles for long periods. Vans can act like greenhouses; once heat gets in, it struggles to escape, causing internal temperatures to rise beyond what’s suitable for product storage.
Storing your products correctly ensures they’re ready to perform when you are, saving you time, money, and hassle on site.
Adjust How You Work Accordingly
To stay in control during installation, we recommend working in smaller sections and mixing smaller amounts of product at a time. Whenever possible, schedule more technical installations during the cooler parts of the day, such as early mornings, and try to work in shaded areas to minimise heat exposure.
Large windows can also contribute to heat build-up, particularly in conservatories and high-rise buildings, where they often lead to inconsistent substrate temperatures and uncomfortably warm environments.
