The sheen level of a floor lacquer is essentially how much light is reflected off the surface (how shiny or matt the finished floor will be). For example, Gloss is usually the shiniest finish whereas Extra Matt would usually be the most matt finish. Some manufacturers use different names for the sheen level which is why it is good to always check the % level.

For all of the lacquers in our Marldon range (Marldon Ceramaxx, Marldon Ceruno and Marldon Contract Lacquer), a primer is always recommended. We would suggest applying a coat of Maldon Cerabase before the application of the floor finish every time, if the lacquer is coating bare timber.

We would always suggest applying 2 - 3 coats of lacquer to a wood floor to ensure adequate protection. For light - normal traffic, 1 coat of Marldon Cerabase Primer and 2 coats of Marldon lacquer are required and for heavy traffic areas, 1 coat of Marldon Cerabase Primer and 3 coats of Marldon lacquer are required.
